CASE: Connected, Autonomous, Shared And Electric Drive

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is scheduled to run from January 3-8, 2017, will be the platform for German carmaker Mercedes-Benz to showcase its CASE - Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric Drive - tech. The three-pointed star's technological prowess has been busy advancing in the field of networking, autonomous driving, flexible usage models and electric drive systems and the automaker is set to demonstrate the progress it has made in CASE between January 5-8, 2017.

Mercedes-Benz will be presenting two cars - Concept EQ and Vision Van - to further explain what CASE is all about. With the Concept EQ, the German auto giant will provide a glimpse of a new generation of vehicles that is powered by an efficient battery electric drive. On the other hand, the Vision Van will shed light on a revolutionary vehicle design for urban use, one that features several innovative technologies for 'last mile' deliveries in an integrated system.

"Our notion of mobility will change more dramatically in the next five to ten years than in the preceding 50. Our CASE strategy will help us to shape the future of mobility. The objective is to make the car a platform for future mobility concepts and a space that offers a digital experience. The car of the future must be networked, autonomous, emissions-free and deliver the possibility of shared mobility," said Ola Källenius, member of the board of management at Daimler AG, who will also be responsible for group research and Mercedes-Benz cars development from January 2017.

Apart from futuristic cars, Mercedes-Benz will also focus on demonstrating the next steps on the road to developing the cognitive car. Additionally, 'Fit&Healthy' will present how the growing health consciousness of the society can be merged efficiently with future mobility. Its cult brand, Smart, will also be premiering the 'smart ready to share' service.
