Photographs emerging from southeast China expose the booming trade in 'redone' iPhones, where components from unusable phones are salvaged to produce working handsets

Almost dead or dead iPhones are being shipped to China, where they are stripped off their working components to create working handsets have been revealed by recent photographs doing rounds in the media. The images show a makeshift phone factory in a small shop where several workers sit around a glass cabinet littered with hand tools and empty iPhone cases.

In one of the photographs, a worker can be seen adding a new cover to a freshly polished iPhone 4S. In other images, a fake Apple packaging awaits a handset. According to the photographer, these ‘redone' handsets appear new and are sold to unsuspecting buyers. Source claimed, "The only way to differentiate, is to open and look inside the handset."
