The new generation Hyundai Elantra is one of the hot topics in India. Having been spied multiple times on the road, this car is due to be launched soon in the country. However, in the Korean market, this car is sold under the name ‘Avante' and has already been launched. Over there, the manufacturer has now unveiled a more powerful variant of this sedan that has been dubbed ‘Avante Sport.' Apart from having a more powerful engine, the variant boasts some cosmetic updates as well to make the elegant sedan look sporty.

The Avante Sport is powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged motor which produces 207PS power alongside 265Nm of torque. Hyundai claims that this powertrain can launch the sedan from 0 to 100kmph in 8 seconds. The non-sport variants have a 1.6-litre direct-injection four-cylinder engine which produces 132PS of power. Other than this, the car also has a 2.0-litre petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel motor on offer. In India, we will most likely get the 1.6-litre CRDi diesel and the 1.8-litre dual VTVT petrol which is on offer in the current generation sedan. It is unlikely that the 'Sport' variant comes to India as the market for such a sedan is not yet widespread in the country.

In terms of cosmetic updates, the car gets side skirts, 18-inch alloy wheels, new front bumper with larger air intakes and new LED DRLs. If you still cannot make out the difference, the car flaunts a bold red 'Turbo' badge on the grille along with red accents in the headlamps. The rear has chrome exhaust tips and LED inserts in the taillamps. If you still want your car to look a bit more aggressive and sporty, for a cost, Hyundai will give you the ‘Extreme Package'. This pack comes with a new set of alloy wheels and a spoiler. This sporty theme is carried in the inside too, with new seats, carbon fibre accents, red outlines and a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel.

We wish we get this sedan in India as well, at least in limited units or as a special edition. Nonetheless, we will soon get our hands on an Elantra and will be ready with a first drive review. So stay tuned.
