Eight reasons to buy that new console or upgrade your PC this sale season
The holiday season is closing in, fast. With all that Diwali and Christmas cheer comes the sound of happy gamers. So, start saving, do those odd jobs, send memos with names of these games to all your aunties. Don't forget to clear your gaming backlog to make way for the most anticipated releases this year.
Mad Max
Release date: September 1, 2015
With the recent movie wowing critics and gaining cult status, the game looks to go down the same route. Mad Max starts off with the protagonist left for dead in a wasteland that is one big highway. Now begins the slow climb up the ladder of being the biggest badass as well as building the best car called the Magnum Opus. Bringing much of the series into the game, Mad Max has guns, but focuses more on hand-to-hand combat using weapons such as wrenches against the hordes of WarBoys out for blood.
Need for Speed
Release date: November 3, 2015
Electronic Arts has taken their legendary franchise back to the streets, building a newer, sexier Need for Speed for 2015. Focusing more on the street racing culture, which made movies like Fast and the Furious and the original Need for Speed Most Wanted, so famous. A winning formula set in retooled cutting edge graphics and blisteringly fast gameplay. Welcome to Ventura Bay, a racetrack of a city, where you play the game by mastering five aspects: speed, style, build, crew and outlaw. Featuring a deep customisation system, Need for Speed 2015 looks extremely promising.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Release date: October 23, 2015
The new Assassin's Creed takes place in 1868, in a London on the cusp of the Industrial Revolution. You play one of two siblings - Jacob or Evie Frye. He specialises in brutal brawler tactics and she is more into stealth and skill. Together, they have to build their Syndicate by uniting the underworld against the Templar controlled London. Unlike other Assassin's Creed's, Syndicate is faster, a lot more furious, focusing more on combat, with weapons like knuckle dusters, knives, canes and more in quick and dirty street fighting.
Hitman
Release date: December 8, 2015
If the last Hitman game truly gave players a taste of what it was to be a killer for hire, the new Hitman is like a deadly assassin happy meal. You play Agent 47 in a series of contracts. All of which have several ways of approaching your target. Do you kill outright, or slip into a disguise, infiltrate, sabotage or use extra creative ways of going about your assassination. Each level is living and breathing with characters that go about their routines. Deep planning for the execution is the best recipe for fun, we'd say.
Call of Duty: Black ops 3
Release date: November 6, 2015
Another year, another Call of Duty. 2015. Last year's Advanced Warfare bought the Call of Duty series back into form. Now, with Black Ops 3, the series jumps into a dystopian future. Deep into the world of covert operatives as they fight battles behind enemy lines and in the shadows of governments in the age of extreme surveillance. The series is known for its cinematic first - person shooter gameplay. Bringing into the advanced robotics, supersoldiers and lots of cool gadgetry to use.
Star Wars Battlefront
Release date: November 20, 2015
The popular Battlefield series meets Star Wars as it puts you front and centre in the battles that made the movies memorable, as well as a few new ones. An only multiplayer title, you jump into battlefields that support up to 40 players. Either play as the infantry on either the Empire or Rebel sides, or jump on speeders, Walkers, or take to the skies in X-Wings and Tie Fighters. You can also play as Darth Vader, Han Solo and a select few of the cast. While it's only an online game, players can play offline as well, experiencing the battles against bots.
Fallout 4
Release date: November 10, 2015
On the day the bombs fell, a sole survivor, emerges from an underground Vault, 200 years later. Set in Boston, you play a male or female character as you and your trusty canine companion roam the land reshaped by Nuclear War and rebuilt by the people left after. An open wasteland world for you to explore, go anywhere, do anything, be anyone you like. Good or evil. Like all Fallout games before, there is a lot to discover as well as experience hundreds of little stories of people in the post apocalypse.
Superhot
Release date: End of 2015
This oddly-named independent game was funded on Kickstarter for its unique concept and addictive gameplay. Featuring a stark white and red world, time is slowed to almost a stop here. When you move, time moves. You have to dodge and shoot enemies and navigate through streams of bullets all to the end of some truly deviously designed levels. A puzzle game does not put you on the edge of the seat as SuperHot.
