Books on Toast, the annual charity for used books is back with its sale, and more titles too. The books were collected from donors across the city over the last few weeks and will be available for sale at Candies, Bandra this weekend, on May 11 and 12.
From books on arts, design and crafts to old magazines, comic books, literary classics, novels, autobiographies and non-fiction, the sale will offer books from a wide variety of genres at throwaway prices. But a low price doesn't mean you will get torn or destroyed titles, as the organisers were very strict while collecting books.
So, for all of Mumbai's book lovers, this promises to be a great opportunity to get your hands on rare books, even as you indulge in a few lip-smacking snacks at Bandra's popular food joint, Candies; while doing so, you will also help in collecting money for the NGO Lok Seva Sangam, which runs schools for underprivileged kids and medical camps for the financially weak sections of the society.
Last year, books on Toast collected a total of '60,000 for the NGO Humara Footpath; this time around, they are aiming for a bigger target. Don't miss this if you like reading and want to give back to society at the same time.
