Parvathy Baul and group will perform at Sarmast

The Manganiyars from Rajasthan, on the other hand, are relatively better known to people who have an interest in alternate music. At the Sufi-Folk concert, Sarmast, Parvathy Baul, a renowned Baul musician, and Sawan Khan Manganiyar will perform songs representing their traditions.

The Baul singers are traditionally wandering minstrels singing their particular form of folk music. Parvathy Baul is one of the few female sadhikas (practitioners) who performs songs for the general public. Sawan Khan is a traditional Folk and Sufi singer, who has dedicated his life to keep the oral tradition of the Thar Desert alive.
