Prepare for competitive exams using your smartphone with a new free personal trainer app available on Android

Android phone

Over the last few years, the popularity of Android has helped provide several tools (apps/software) that make education simpler, easier and accessible to all as well as help prepare for competitive exams. Our recent favourite is Prepathon, a free learning app on Android that acts as your personal trainer.

The app comes with study material categorised into five courses - Current Affairs (for general knowledge), Common Admission Test (CAT), Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), State Service Commission - Combined Graduate Level (SSC CGL) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).

Both, the app as well the information on it, are available for free, all you need is a working data plan and Facebook or Google+ account to sign up. You are free to choose from any of the five courses (one at a time or all at once). The content on Current Affairs is available as a run-on section, with the information updated regularly provided by Civilsdaily.com. Those under the CAT, JEE, SSC and IBPS courses are divided into three sections - Learn (where you explore various topics related to the exam, participate in quizzes as well as give mock tests), Discuss (communicate with other Prepathon users as well members of the PagalGuy community) and Coach (interact with a mentor designated to help you prepare for the exam).

Though we found some of the questions too easy, looking at the amount of information available on the app, Prepathon is without any doubt our favourite app to prepare for competitive exams, or just to test our IQ. Users should be greatly benefited by the mock tests, which are organised regularly in the app. But what really sets it apart from other exam preparation tools is that the app explains the logic behind every answer, which again, serves as a great learning tool.

Unfortunately, we felt limited by the number of questions available on the app. We, however, expect it to be resolved soon as Prepathon grows richer with time. We also hope to see a separate section just for tests, with more questions being added at regular intervals.
