The US celebrates National Liqueur Day on October 16, a day dedicated to the myriad flavours and classes of liqueur. If you are fond of cocktails and love yourself some sweet liqueur, Mumbai mixologists have shared some quirky liqueur-based cocktails for you to ace at home.
Jose's Coa
"This cocktail is similar to a punch, however with a twist. Each sip allows you to taste the sweetness, sourness, dryness, fruitiness and bitterness all at the same time. It's a fun cocktail to be enjoyed with friends and can be doubled or tripled in quantity as a party drink", says Dhruv Sachdeva, Bar Supervisor at Perch Wine and Coffee Bar.
Ingredients
45 ml Tequila
20 ml Pomelo liquor
2 bar spoon Vanilla yogurt
10 ml Lime juice
10 ml Sugar syrup
50 ml Sparkling Brut
Method
Pour all ingredients in a Highball glass and shake.
Garnish with fermented berry leather.
Flamin Frickin Desire
"We've realised that our guests take their coffee very seriously and we wanted to understand how they react when we give a fun twist to it by adding sizzling dark rum to their coffee," shares Darshan Parmar, Operations head and Bar Sommelier, Out of The Blue.
Ingredients
60 ml Dark Rum
30 ml Kahlua
90 ml coffee shot
Whip Cream
Sprinkle nutmeg and cinnamon
Method
Take an Irish mug glass and coat the rim with brown sugar.
Pour flaming dark rum. Then add coffee liquor and hot coffee.
Top it up with whipped cream.
Sprinkle nutmeg and cinnamon powder.
Boulevardier
"The development of the cocktails dates back to 1927. The name of the cocktail comes from a Parisian magazine called Boulevardier and we've given it a twist at Wakai," says Shatbi Basu, mixologist at Wakai.
Ingredients
1 part bourbon whiskey
1 part Campari
1 part aromatised wine
Method
In a glass, combine the Bourbon, Campari, and aromatised wine; add some ice and stir well.
Serve the cocktail on the rocks for a great experience.
Hanky panky

"Fernet branca is a famous Italian bitter founded in Milan by the noble Branca di Romanico family in 1845. Fernet Branca is made from 30 different roots and herbs, including gentian, camomile, saffron and rhubarb, and aged in Slovenian oak vats for one year," says Ritesh Marathe, bartender at Tori.
Ingredients
45 ml Gin
45 ml Sweet vermouth
2 ml Fernet branca
Method
Pour all the alcohol over ice in the stirring glass then stir it for 30 seconds, till it blends well and is ready to serve.
Grace

"As liqueurs are very graceful this drink comprises of two liqueurs and a bourbon whisky when they are blended together they form this splendid cocktail called Grace," shares Rohan Solanki, mixologist at The Game.
Ingredients
20 ml bourbon
20 ml Bailey's
20 ml Kahlua
Method
Mix all ingredients, with ice in a shaker and shake it well and strain it in a rock glass with ice.
