Nikita Rawal and Arvind Kejriwal
Actress Nikita Rawal who represented India at International platforms through Kathak runs an NGO called Astha Foundation where she has adopted 60 HIV positive children. Known for films like Garam Masala, Black & White, The Hero Abhimanyu, Ammaa Ki Boli to name a few loves children and cannot see kids suffer both mentally and physically.
The idea behind this NGO came to Nikita when she saw a few children suffering from HIV in a helpless and suffering situation. They were not given adequate nutrition and felt like a burden from within. After discussing with a few close aids she decided to start this organisation and today she has 60 children adopted who are looked after just like a mother would look at her own kids. Recently, Nikita also joined politics with Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party.
Speaking about Astha foundation, she says, "These are my own kids and I make sure they get what they truly deserve. At Astha, every possible care is taken and we make sure these children become independent and stand on their own feet. It's a feeling of satisfaction!"
"Acting is my passion and representing India at the globe, doing around 14,780 shows and getting so much love from the audience feels great. I had a zeal for polity and hence venturing into that aspect, exploring from within and beyond," adds Rawal.
