A Mumbai-based entrepreneur has created fascinating products from scrap, including a double decker bus that’s up for sale!

An architect and interior designer by profession, Manish Agrawal always had access to a lot of scrap, which was unused and ready to be discarded.

With the idea of wanting to highlight recycling of scrap and create inexpensive options for those who cannot afford expensive furniture, he created chandeliers out of used Sprite bottles and LED lights, pieces from newspaper such as chairs, a sofa that three people could sit on, a helicopter that can be used by children to take a ride and a double-decker bus. He hopes that this would also inspire children to go one step ahead with their creativity and think out of the box.

"The idea behind the Mumbai double-decker bus was to highlight recycling, attract children who may have never travelled in a double-decker bus and to appeal to the government that this bus is symbolic of Mumbai and it should not be discontinued," explains Agrawal.

The items also help explain basic principles of load transfer and design principles involved in making anything, to children. All the items can be made at home and take about a week to create. To buy any of these items, one can schedule an appointment and place an order with Agrawal.
