Soumitra Ranade's upcoming film, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Aata Hai, beats cash crunch through a crowdfunding campaign

"I have to tell you with the greatest joy that our crowdfunding campaign for Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Aata Hai was successful. We had asked for '30 lakh and we got 40," says a happy Ranade, in praise of the process.

"It's a great feeling that people connected with the project. There were contributions, not only from India but the US, Canada, UK, and Singapore. We received help from people we didn't know. Along with the monetary contributions, we were overwhelmed by the wishes and love that so many people sent in," he shares. The film stars Nandita Das and Manav Kaul.

With new found confidence, he asserts, "I think crowdfunding is a worthy option for independent cinema in our country. I really recommend it to all filmmakers who want to have creative control and wish to engage in cinema that comes from the heart."

The film, which is inspired by the 1980s cult movie with the same title, also received a substantial amount from Muvizz.com. The funds will be utilised for the post-production, animation and VFX of the film.
