"The intimate scenes have been done with lot of sensuality, while maintaining class and dignity. I always saw the scenes as a power move by the character, as a means to an end for her to achieve her goals and was very sure of my arc as an actor. I gave her agency - she is a strong woman who has opinions, a voice, ambitions and is very intelligent.
"I made sure I respected Shankari, internally, for being able to do what it took her to survive in a world like that while wanting to come on to the top. Her actions are her choice and not just a need. It's a difficult character to play," Anupriya said.
The actor also credited filmmaker Milan Luthria for handling and showcasing Shankari with care - delving into her journey but never doing it for effect.
"I thank Milan sir and Vishnu sir, for respecting Shankari's character and wanting to show her as a powerful being with agency. The scenes are to explore her character and journey, not to titillate the audiences - the difference in how these scenes are shot lies in respect and perspective."
Like Shankari - a character with incredible amount of depth - Anupriya said she also embraces her sensuality, which every woman should.
"I too embrace my sensuality as a woman and am very comfortable in my skin. I think we as women should enjoy our beings cause we are gifted. We have so much to explore and express emotionally," she signs off.
