âYeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein' actress Anchal Singh speaks to mid-day.com as she plans trips to Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala and Leh and Ladakh, that will drive away your Monday blues! Join her on the ride.
Where are you off to today?
Andaman and Nicobar islands. I visited Havelock island, it's beautiful and I hope it is explored more. It's amidst nature, has wonderful food and stay options if you are looking for something calm and serene. Another place that is not too far away, and I love, is Kerala. I stayed on a boat house for a night and a tree house next then I visited the backwaters. I also visited fort Kochi. I wish I could visit the sanctuaries but I was there for a few days. I just shot Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhien in Leh and Ladakh and loved the beautiful Buddhist monasteries.
What's on the itinerary?
I went snorkeling at Havelock. I had no idea how rich, beautiful and colourful the coral reefs are. The life in the sea is something else. I'm scared of water so getting me to do snorkeling wasn't easy but my father accompanied me. We also had an expert showing us around.
What's on the menu?
Havelock island, caters to people who are non-vegetarian and I'm not, so options were limited. The nariyal pani was unforgettable. One coconut had enough water for three people. I visited Full Moon café and Bonova café at Havelock. Leh too has some nice small cafes.
Your fondest memories with friends and family...
When in Leh, I visited a few friends. We were seeking blessings from the monks. Then we enjoyed Maggi which is prepared very differently in that region. We also visited Cho Palace, which has a small café, with a pond where you can see ducks and fishes. We enjoyed this beautiful view and had Maggi with monks, which was a wonderful experience. I visited Havelock island with my entire family-mom, dad and brother. We went via Pondicherry and it is a place you should visit with family.
The craziest thing you have done there?
The hotel we stayed at, at Havelock, was next to the sea. I recall visiting it at 2am, all by myself. The sky is so clear that you can sit and count the stars.
What are you packing for the trip?
For Leh I bought a lot of jackets, gloves, boots and caps from Decathlon because I was told one needs to dress in layers.
Your holiday playlist...
AR Rahman songs, Mohit Chauhan songs, off late I'm listening to Doja cat she's amazing. Black Eyed Peas and Eminem too.
