Styling for TV frustrating, says designer Neerusha

Styling for TV actors is not fun any more, says stylist Neerusha and adds that the medium is not creatively satisfying either. Therefore, she decided to create her own collection - Womaniyaa.

"Designing for TV has become harder than what it was two years back. Earlier on, we used to design clothes and then just would have the director and the actor approve them. Now with the director completely out of the scene, the producer just seeks for the channel's approval," said Neerusha who has been in the industry for 16 years.

She has been associated with the TV industry for many years now and has been a part of shows like "Kuch Toh Log Kahenge", "Jhansi Ki Rani", "Prithviraj Chauhan", "Veer Shivaji" and "Mahadev".

"If you hire an expert in something and then advise them what to do, it's not right. Designing for television seems to have become very frustrating," she said.

Her collection Womaniyaa revolves around the moods of a woman.

"My collection is all about the various moods of a woman. So, you have a wild version, a sexy version, that of a housewife, and a shy version...everything," she said.

Her desire to try something on her own motivated her to design the collection.

"For TV shows, there are so many people you have to listen to for every small thing. Whereas I wanted to try something of my own here...I wanted to create something on my own," she said.

After her long stay in the TV business, she doesn't really need TV shows to promote her clothes.

"I have been in the business for 16 years now and have even won awards. I don't need the media to showcase my stuff," said the designer who has 12 shows on air at the moment and about four shows are in the pipeline.

"There are many big shows coming up. One of them is 'Mumbai', which will be aired on Zee TV. There are also costume drama shows on Life Ok..." she said.u00a0
