"I don't think it's a fair practice at all. Filmmakers should steer clear from doing this because it's unfair to all the artistes," Mika told PTI here while commenting on the trend of recording one song by multiple singers. Mika, 37, however, is happy with actors singing in their own films.
"Some actors have really surprised me with their singing talent I didn't know they could sing so well. But, there are some who should probably come get music lessons from me," he said. Mika, who will be one of the coaches in reality show 'The Voice India', said, "The show is an exceptional not only in terms of its worldwide popularity but also the format, which has never ever been done before on Indian television.
"I have seen some of the previous seasons and I was hooked on to the show instantly. Besides, the show hunts for a singer purely based on vocals and as a singer I would love to extend support to all newcomers in building their careers," he said. "I want a voice that will be real and strike a chord instantaneously. I would want the singers to sing songs that will highlight their versatility and be presented as evergreen singers.
"With singing reality shows you get a platform to reach out to the industry and showcase your talent. If you have got talent that can be used in Bollywood, not only will you be spotted but also given an opportunity," he said. Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan and Himesh Reshamiya are the other coaches on the show. The 'Voice India' show will go on air from June 6, Saturday to Sunday at 9 PM on &TV.
