Tamannaah Bhatia
Stepping into Tabu's shoes is a tall order. When Tamannaah Bhatia came on board 'Maestro', the Telugu remake of 'Andhadhun' (2018), she may have had her set of apprehensions about reprising Tabu's role. But the South actor was determined to give her own spin to the character. To begin with, she avoided revisiting Sriram Raghavan's black comedy. "After taking up the project, I made a conscious decision not to watch the film again. I wanted to take a different approach to the part because story-wise, we haven't tweaked much from the original," shares Bhatia, who shares screen space with Telugu actors Nithiin and Nabha Natesh.
Having shot a chunk of the movie, the actor believes she has painted her character in different shades from Tabu's Simi, who was conniving and unafraid. "Now, I'm not worried about comparisons. We have offered an honest take on the story. Tabu's appeal in the original is different; I have brought my own interpretation here." She has three days' work left before she can call it a wrap on the project.
For now, Bhatia is basking in the praise coming her way for Disney+Hotstar's 'November Story'. Giving her nod to the crime thriller was a no-brainer. "I sat through the narration of the first three episodes, and was eager to know what comes next. I figured it's a gripping script since it piqued my interest, despite my short attention span."
