Rajnikanth
The much-anticipated release of Rajinikanth's upcoming film, 'Jailer', has encountered a significant hurdle due to its title. This issue arises from the existence of another Malayalam movie with the same name, leading to concerns about potential confusion among audiences. While the stories of both films differ, the makers of the Malayalam "Jailer" have requested a title change, specifically for the Kerala region, where both movies are set to release simultaneously.
The director of the Malayalam film, Sakkir Madathil, held a press conference to address this matter, highlighting the seriousness of the issue. Madathil expressed that they had reached out to Sun Pictures, the production company behind Rajinikanth's 'Jailer', requesting a modification to the title. However, Sun Pictures has been reluctant to change the title, even for the Kerala release.
The Malayalam 'Jailer' team argues that since their film is relatively smaller in scale, it should be allowed to retain the title. They believe that the change would not significantly impact the collections of the Tamil 'Jailer', especially considering its association with Mohanlal, one of the biggest stars in Malayalam cinema.
On the other hand, Sun Pictures, in an official statement, emphasized that as the Tamil 'Jailer' features a much larger star and the production company operates at a corporate level, changing the title is not feasible.

While the dispute centers around the name, it is important to note that the stories and genres of the films are distinct.
