Rajinikanth's film 'Jailer' was released in theatres in the Independence Day weekend and witnessed a strong opening with ardent fans of the superstar watching the film on the first day. The film has collected over Rs 300 crore nett in India in 200 days and the film is reported inching closer to Rs 650crore gross worldwide.
After the resounding success of the film, Sun Pictures Producer Kalanithi Maran met Rajinikanth and gave him a cheque from the profit share. The actor, apart from the fees was also in profit share agreement with the producers. The official account of Sun Pictures shared the priceless moment on X and wrote: "Mr. Kalanithi Maran met Superstar Rajinikanth and handed over a cheque, celebrating the historic success of Jailer." The picture has been going viral on social media.
Soon after, on Thursday, film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan took to Twitter and claimed that with the success of Jailer, Rajinikanth has become the highest paid actor of India. Sharing the photo shared by Sun Picture, Manobala wrote, "Info coming in that, the envelope handed over by Kalanithi Maran to superstar Rajinikanth contains a single cheque amounting â¹100 crore from City Union Bank, Mandaveli branch, Chennai. This is a Jailer profit sharing cheque, which is up and above the already paid remuneration [ â¹110 crore] of the superstar for the movie. Total - â¹210 crore. Making superstar Rajinikanth the highest paid actor in India."

In another tweet, Manobala Vijayabalan compared Jailer's success with the box office failure of director Nelson Dilipkumar's 2022 film 'Beast' that starred Vijay. He wrote, "Yet another day. Yet another proof that Beast is disaster. No cheque was given after Beast release to Vijay. But, superstar Rajinikanth received profit sharing cheque of â¹100 crores for Jailer. Real SUCCESS speaks for itself. At the same time, Nelson too proved how much capable he is with a fantastic comeback film. Same director, different results."
'Jailer' was released in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu nd Hindi languages across the world on August 10. In India alone, the film opened at Rs 48.35 cr nett in all languages. Apart from Rajinikanth, Jailer also features Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi and Tamannaah Bhatia in pivotal roles. Veteran actors Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff also appear in the film.
