South Korean boy band BTS member Jimin, has reportedly made a massive charitable gesture towards students from low-income families in the Gyeongnam province. On May 30, an official from the Provincial Office of Education brought to light that Jimin's father donated 100 million won (over Rs 60 lakh) in the idol's name.
The official stated, "Singer Jimin spent his school days in Busan and has no direct connection to Gyeongnam, but we understand he made the donation with pure intentions for students in the province."
It is to be noted that since 2019, Jimin has been donating books and providing scholarships for students from low-income families to offices of education in cities like Busan and Jeonnam.
The latest amount donated will be used for scholarships for students in the province via Gyeongsangnam-do Future Education Foundation which is an organisation funded by the Provincial Office of Education.

Meanwhile, Jimin has been enlisted in the military with RM, V, and Jungkook. In November last year, the four youngest members of the group were enlisted together. Bighit Music announced, "Hello, this is Bighit Music. We would like to inform our fans that RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have initiated the military enlistment process," the company said in a statement issued via Weverse. "The artists are preparing to fulfill their military service duties."
"We ask you for your continued love and support for RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook until they complete their military service and safely return," the statement continued to read.
"Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artists. Thank you."
The group has been on a hiatus since June 2022 with the members carrying on individual activities until their reunion, which is expected in 2025. Jimin dropped his mini album 'Face' in March last year.
The seven-member band decided to take some time off as a group in 2022. "We can't help but think of our fans no matter what, we want to be the kind of artists that are remembered by our fans. I think now we're starting to think about what kind of artists we each want to be remembered as," Jimin said during BTS' Festa dinner, which is part of an annual celebration of their founding.
