Adele
This writer loves it! All of it. Be it I drink wine's pleasantly welcoming piano introduction that is at stark contrast with the painful lyrics, or the lyrics themselves. It's tough to decipher if the words, or Adele's ability to emote them, is more powerful. Of course, we know that the Brit singer's album, 30, of which this song is a part, was penned amidst her divorce with Simon Konecki, with whom she shares a son. But her ability to create tracks that seem like physical manifestations of her emotions is what makes her credible.
I drink wine ticks all the right boxes - it draws attention to her powerful vocals, resonates with lovers across the globe, and isn't sappy when describing a pain that's all too familiar.
