Daniel Craig
At a screening of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery in New York recently, Daniel Craig shared that he is not taking any bets on which actor will play James Bond next. The actor, 54, told the Happy Sad Confused podcast host Josh Horowitz, "I don't really pay any attention. I just don't go on the internet, I don't have social media."
While joking that the former 007 is really "massive on TikTok," Craig shrugged, "it is what it is" when it comes to the future of the Bond franchise as it moves on without him. However, when asked if he will enjoy watching a new actor essay Ian Fleming's spy, the actor promptly replied, "I'll be front and centre [at the theatre]."
Reminiscing his own internal debate when he was being cast as the iconic British spy for the first time in Casino Royale (2006), Craig said that both, pros and cons, resulted in his decision to take up the part. He elaborated, "It was on the pro list: it would change my life. It was on the con list: it would change my life." The actor also recalled asking his closest friends for advice. "They were just like, âYou've got to do this, you'll regret this if you don't do this.' And I did, so here we are."
Incidentally, Craig is not the only former Bond to state he has little interest in who will take on the role next. Previously, Pierce Brosnan had told a publication that he doesn't care who gets the coveted role after he quit the franchise.
