From Wanted to Bharat: Salman Khan's saga of Eid release continues

There was a phase when Salman Khan had a torrid run at the Box Office with Marigold: An Adventure in India (2007), God Tussi Great Ho (2008) and Yuvvraaj (2008), all failing to make an impression. Until the Eid mania started, precisely from 2009.

Wanted (2009): This Prabhu Deva-directed action flick was the remake of Telugu hit Pokiri, starring Mahesh Babu. Playing a cop who goes undercover as a gangster, Salman tasted super success with this film after a prolonged lean spell. Right from songs to Wanted's dialogues, this Salman Khan film worked wonders at the Box Office.

Dabangg (2010): If Wanted was Salman's return to form, the Abhinav Kashyap-directed film consolidated the star's position as an action hero. Salman played the cop (Chulbul Pandey) again with effortless ease, and the film set the cash registers ringing. Dabangg made a total Box Office collection of Rs 145 crore, marking Salman's 1st 100 crore film.

Bodyguard (2011): Even as Salman turned from police wallah to bodyguard, his film's fate did not suffer. Despite a weak script, the bankable Khan's screen presence and action sequences were enough to help the film sail through at the Box Office with a total collection of Rs 142 crore.

Ek Tha Tiger (2012): Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's espionage thriller was not just a blockbuster but became one the first films of Khan that reached a whopping mark of 198 crores (almost missed Salman Khan's entry to the 200 crore club).

Kick (2014): Well, Salman Khan gave the year 2013 a miss for Eid release, as he made way for his friend Shah Rukh Khan's Chennai Express. However, Sallu was back in 2014 with Sajid Nadiadwala's Kick, opposite Jacqueline Fernandez and Randeep Hooda. The film was a super-success and marked Salman Khan's first film the 200 crore club. Kick collected Rs 233 crore at the Box Office.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015): After the grand success of Kabir Khan-Salman Khan's collaboration Ek Tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan too became a successful venture. The film was Eid's biggest release so far in terms of Box Office collection. Bajrangi Bhaijaan made it to the 300 crore club and has set a benchmark for Eid releases as it collected 321 crores net.

Sultan (2016): This Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer too managed to enter the 300 crore club. Sultan was lauded by critics for its songs, drama, the fresh pairing of Anushka and Salman and their wrestling scenes!

Tubelight (2017): This was the most non-Salman film that the superstar has ever done in his career. And the fact that he's actually acting the hell out of this movie, rather than making do with his casual swag, made it even more special, if not almost historic! However, fans gave a thumbs down to this one mostly, as they didn't enjoy seeing 'Bhai crying'. As the film flopped big time at the Box Office, it also broke the chain of back-to-back hit Eid deliveries by Salman Khan. Tubelight earned merely Rs 121 crore at the Box Office.

Race 3 (2018): Well, who would have thought, after the Tubelight debacle, Salman Khan's fans were again disappointed with this Eid release too. Race 3 was panned across all sections - from film critics to the audience. The movie, a high-budget and most-importantly a multi-starrer action film managed to rake in Rs 169 crore at the Box Office. The film was out of theatres within weeks.

Bharat (2019): Hopes are pinned high on Salman Khan's upcoming film, slated to release on June 5, 2019. Bharat has Salman Khan's five different looks ranging from a young circus champion to a 60-year-old man. The film, also starring Katrina Kaif and Disha Patani, is based on the journey of a man and his nation.

We'll wait and watch to see how Bharat fares at the box office! Will Bharat break the jinx of flop-series of Khan? Will it beat Salman Khan's best Eid record at the Box Office?
