Father's Day 2023: Actresses who followed in their fathers footsteps

It's Father's Day on June 18th and we take a look at some leading film actresses who followed in their actor fathers footsteps and made their way into the industry.

Hailing from the famous Kapoor family, it was believed that the women don't act in films but Karisma and Kareena changed just that! The popular sisters are the daughters of actor Randhir Kapoor and Babita. Karisma made her acting debut in 1991 at the age of 16 with the romantic drama 'Prem Qaidi,' opposite debutant Harish Kumar. Later Kareena made her way into films oppossite Abhishek Bachchan in J. P. Dutta's 'Refugee.'

Shakti Kapoor was known for his villanous and comic roles in films but Shraddha sucessfully made her way as a much in demand leading lady with films like 'Aashiqui 2,' 'Stree,' 'Ek Villain' and others. Although her initial films 'Teen Patti' and 'Luv Ka The End' tanked at the box-office, things changed post the massive success of 'Aashiqui 2' oppossite Aditya Roy Kapur. Doting dad Shakti is often spotted participating in Shraddha's film promotions.

Having made his film debut in Dev Anand's 'Prem Pujari' Shatrughan Sinha did several smlal roles before he got the oppurtunity to play leading man. Daughter Sonakshi had a grand debut opposite Salman Khan's 2010 release 'Dabangg.' Sonakshi has said she enjoys action roles like her dad.

Anil Kapoor's eldest child, Sonam's appearance with her dad on Karan Johar's 'Koffee with Karan' turned out to be one of the show's most memorable episodes. While Kapoor Sr has appeared in more than 100 films, he also shared screenspace with Sonam in 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.'

While Shah Rukh Khan is a bonafide superstar, daughter Suhana is all set to make her entry into the entertaiment industry with Zoya Akhtar's 'The Archies.' The film is the Indian musical adaptation of the popular Archie Comics series. The film also marks the debut of other starkids like Khushi Kapoor and Agastya Nanda.

While Chunky Panday saw sucess as a leading man during his initial years, he later switched to character actor roles. Daughter Ananya had a grand debut with Karan Johar's 'Student of the Year 2,' co-starring Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria and went on to feature in big films like 'Pati Patni Aur Woh' and 'Liger.' The paparazzi have nicknamed her ACP (Ananya Chunky Panday.)
