Vijay got into dance accidentaly after he mistakenly ended up enrolling himself in Shiamak Davar's dance institute, instead of sister and actress Rupali Ganguly.
The choreographer revealed that he trained actors like Vidya Balan and Namashi Chakraborty at Davar's institute.
Ganguly's big break as a choreographer came with Ranbir Kapoor's song 'Galti Se Mistake' from 'Jagga Jasoos.' "Dada (Anurag Basu) played the song and asked me who we should get on board for the song!" Ganguly went on to say that he had a list of choreographers who could do justice to the Ranbir Kapoor number. As luck would have it. everyone that he called up were busy.
Nora Fatehi shot 'Kamariya' from 'Stree' as a newcomer. Vijay said, "When I first heard 'Kamariya' it was a slow song so I asked Dinoo sir (Dinesh Vijan) the producer to speed up the song. He agreed to that but we were alloted only two nights to shoot the song at a house in Bhopal. I was told a new girl was coming in to perform the song and it was Nora."
Speaking of Sara Ali Khan's 'Chakachak' from 'Atrangi Re' Ganguly says she put in a lot of effort. "She rehersed in peoples bathrooms in Goa because there was press all around."
Opening up about his relationship with sister Rupali, he said, "Earlier we used to meet often, she would come home. Now she's shooting almost 18 hours a day. Whenever she gets a li'l break we meet. Now when she comes to meet mom, half the area stands to greet her. It's a proud feeling for all of us because she grew up in that house."
