Saiyami Kher
Last year, Saiyami Kher was training to participate in the half-Ironman triathlon that took place in New Zealand. However, an injury meant that she could not tick it off her bucket list. This time around, she intends to realise her plan, only making it bigger and better. The actor will participate in the Ironman triathlon that will be held on September 15 in Germany. The race - that involves 3.8 kilometres of swimming, 180.2 kilometres of cycling and 42.2 kilometres of running - will be held in the quaint town of Erkner about 56 kilometres away from Berlin.
Given the demanding nature of the race, Kher began her prep earlier this month. Her two-hour daily regimen includes a combination of any three exercises from cycling, jogging, running, swimming and strength training. Juggling it with her shoot commitments hasn't been easy. "I have always spoken about how sport has kept me fit, not only physically, but also mentally. Preparing for the Ironman is one of the biggest challenges I've taken on. It's about enjoying small victories, pushing yourself and finding your inner strength. It has always been on my bucket list and I decided to finally take the plunge," she says.
Kher will be the first female Indian actor to compete in this gruelling race. In 2015, actor Milind Soman completed the Ironman triathlon in Switzerland in 15 hours and 19 minutes.
