One thing that an artist hates is getting stereotyped. There are times when a Television actor couldn't find a place for himself in the film industry as he gets tagged as âa TV actor.' However, there some fine examples of actors who broke the norm and made it big in Bollywood, despite coming from a television background. Shah Rukh Khan, late Sushant Singh Rajput, Ronit Roy, and Amitabh Bachchan have successfully made a mark on both mediums. And actress Nikita Dutta is not an exception to it.
'The Big Bull' actress made her debut in 2014 with 'Le Kar Hum Deewana Dil' and then she dared to switch the medium and jumped into television. With shows like 'Dream Girl', 'Ek Duje Ke Vaaste' and 'Haasil', Dutta shined on the other medium as well and the actress became a household name. In 2019, Nikita bounced back to films and hit the bull's eye with 'Kabir Singh'. This fine balance between both mediums was possible because of her strong determination.
The actress agrees that switching between mediums was not easy. "I wouldn't deny that I haven't faced any difficulty while switching mediums. I have received cold reactions towards my choices. I started with films and then I jumped to television, so when I was venturing into the medium, a few people told me that T.V is a black hole and I will never come out of it. I wouldn't be able to do anything else rather than long-running daily soaps. But I still went ahead as I followed my gut feeling."
While talking about the experience on television, Dutta said, "I had brilliant three years of experience, I have learned so much from the medium. I owe a lot of my acting skills to these three years of television."

When Nikita was planning to come back to films, she received some negative feedback from few naysayers. Said Dutta, "After my first show, I was trying to get back to films, I already did 'Gold', and I was filming for 'Kabir Singh'. So, at that time, I heard from 1-2 people saying that âBut she's from television, I don't think she will be able to act. She might go over-the-top as she's from television.'"
Nikita states the shift between the mediums is not easy, and it is disappointing for an artist to face such a situation. However, she also believes that there are open-minded people who recognise talent and give a chance to shine.
On the work front, Nikita will soon be seen in Bosco Martis's dance film 'Rocket Gang', opposite Aditya Seal.
