Celebrated actress and respected political figure, Hema Malini, recently voiced her firm belief in the magic of the silver screen experience. During an insightful conversation with the news agency PTI, she eloquently emphasized the charm and excitement that large-scale cinematic presentations possess. In support of her stance, she cited the remarkable achievements of films like Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, and Gadar 2, a movie involving her stepson, Sunny Deol.
Hema Malini expressed her genuine fondness for the traditional film-watching encounter, saying, "Films on the (big) screen are very different, which we are used to. I'm used to that kind of films... the big screen." While she acknowledged the convenience and accessibility of OTT platforms and web series, she maintained that they cannot replicate the larger-than-life ambiance that theaters provide. The triumphant runs of Gadar 2 and Pathaan upon their theatrical releases only deepened her conviction that the collective love for the big screen endures unshaken.
Pathaan, a captivating action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand, graced theaters in the opening month of this year. Likewise, Gadar 2, a project helmed by Anil Sharma, captivated audiences as it hit the big screen on August 11, marking a triumphant return for Sunny Deol.
Reflecting on her iconic film Baghban, which marks two decades since its release in October, Hema Malini shared her thoughts on the heartwarming narrative. The 2003 family drama, brought to life under the direction of Ravi Chopra, told the poignant tale of an elderly couple portrayed by Hema Malini and Amitabh Bachchan. The couple's emotional journey unfolded as their children failed to offer them the care they deserved. Fondly reminiscing about her collaboration with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini expressed a heartfelt desire for more joint ventures, ruefully remarking, "Unfortunately, it did not happen. Maybe one has to remember only Baghban." Despite this, she cherished the experience of working alongside Amitabh and recollected her initial hesitation before eventually embracing the role after a hiatus.
