Dhanush with wife Aishwaryaa

On Monday night, South star Dhanush and filmmaker-wife Aishwaryaa announced their separation after 18 years of togetherness. The actor, who was recently seen in Atrangi Re (2021), wrote on Twitter, "18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, parents and well-wisher to each other... Today, we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this. Om Namah Shivaaya! Spread love!" Rajinikanth's daughter posted a similar story on her Instagram handle.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2004, are parents to sons Yatra and Linga. While fans respected their decision, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma showed yet again that dignified silence is not his forte. He felt compelled to offer his two cents on star divorces, as he tweeted, "Nothing murders love faster than marriage."

A happy collaboration

Sahher Bambba has danced her way into the new year. The actor, who was last seen in Disney+ Hotstar's Dil Bechara, has collaborated with Emraan Hashmi and singer B Praak for a music video. "It's a dream come true for me," says Bambba, who admits to being a fan of B Praak's music and often grooves to them. The song has been penned by Jaani, who composed the music along with Praak, and will be unveiled soon.

On her own

Shah Rukh Khan may not be the only reason to look forward to Pathan. The buzz is that Deepika Padukone, who stands shoulder-to-shoulder with him, has done away with body doubles for Siddharth Anand's actioner. Risks come easy to Padukone, be it on screen or off it. Guess it was only a matter of time before she tried her hand at stunts. Plus, it will be a learning ground for the actor, who will soon have to match Hrithik Roshan punch for punch in Fighter.

No clashes, please!

Rumours suggest that Aamir Khan is doing a rethink about the Baisakhi release of Laal Singh Chaddha. The Advait Chandan directorial venture was initially set to release in Christmas 2021, but was pushed to Valentines' Day 2022, and then to April 14. Now, there is speculation galore that the Forrest Gump remake will be further pushed to the year-end to avoid locking horns with KGF: Chapter 2, which is set to release on Baisakhi. The film is Khan's labour of love. Looks like the perfectionist is keen not to take any missteps.

Save the date

Can't stop, won't stop - that's Akshay Kumar for you! Many actors may be currently wary of releasing their films in theatres, but not the Khiladi. He announced that Bachchan Pandey will arrive on the big screen on Holi. The Sajid Nadiadwala-backed film will mark his third theatrical release in the pandemic, after Bell Bottom (2021) and Sooryavanshi (2021). Will Kumar be thrice lucky? Well, if the posters are any indication, the masala film is right up his alley.

18 years and counting

In 2004, director Sriram Raghavan gave Bollywood one of its most gripping noir thrillers with Ek Hasina Thi. As the film completed 18 years, Urmila Matondkar went down memory lane. She wrote on Twitter, "Have never had so much fun playing a character - Sarika Vartak. Simple and sweet girl-next-door. [And] her journey to another world... Nothing can be better for an actor when fans stop you all over the world to appreciate your work and even remember the name of your character." Raghavan, who has since become an expert at thrillers, is filming his next with Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif.

Praying for Didi

Fans around the globe have been praying for Lata Mangeshkar's good health ever since she tested positive and was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital. Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar shared an update, stating that the veteran singer would need eight to 10 days more to recover. "There's not a single day in my life that goes without listening to her songs, and she has had tremendous influence in my life," he said.

Proud moment

Suriya's Jai Bhim continues to be applauded for bravely showcasing the injustice against tribals. On Tuesday, a scene from the film along with director TJ Gnanavel's narrative was added to the Academy Awards' YouTube page, under its series ‘Scene at the Academy'. The Internet went into a tizzy, with fans congratulating the star. The Tamil film was also nominated at the Golden Globe Awards 2022 in the Best Non-English Language Film category.
