Gadar 2 is a phenomenon that's ruling Bollywood at present. The Anil Sharma directorial starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead has taken the box office by storm. Now, amid Gadar 2's blockbuster run globally, fans are curious to know whether the story of Tara Singh and Sakeena will be taken forward with the third installment.
In an exclusive interview with Variety, Shariq Patel, Chief Business Officer, Zee Studios, weighed in on the possibility of Gadar 3. He further hinted at developing a spin-off film around Sunny Deol's character, Tara Singh. Shariq clarified that Gadar 3 will be made only when the right script is cracked.
"We have to get the story. It took Anil Sharma and Shaktimaan 20 years to find the story [of Gadar 2]. We find the story we go fast but I am assuring you nothing will be done just for making the money and encashing the brand to get that money and then kill the franchise and kill the brand. This is a true sequel. It's on the lines of âTop Gun: Maverick' with the same character several years later, it's not a franchise, we're not creating a franchise, we'll have to create a sequel to it. Would I love to create a Tara Singh spinoff? I'd love it. We have to figure out how to do that," Shariq said.

Talking about Gadar 2, Ameesha Patel said in an exclusive interview with Mid-Day, "Gadar 2 was made with sincerity and not just with the aim to get Friday, Saturday and Sunday numbers. The film has a proper script, good music, brilliant action and to top it all, Tara and Sakeena are in the hearts of every Indian. They have loved the couple and the film for 22 years and it is evident that the curiosity made people throng to theatres on the first day of release. Maintaining beautiful nuances, the Gadar-ness of the film and not altering and messing around with it and not being insecure about anything made Gadar the franchise it is today."
Gadar 2 continues its successful run at the box office. As of now, the film has earned Rs. 336.20 crores in India.
