The Manipur Police re-arrested journalist Kishorchandra Wangkhem and activist Erendro Leichombam under the National Security Act (NSA) after they were granted bail for their allegedly derisive social media posts on state BJP chief S Tikendra Singh, following his demise due to Covid-19 last week, police sources said.
The duo, both in their 40s, was arrested on Thursday after they took to Facebook to extend their condolences, while also writing that cow dung or cow urine was no cure for Covid-19, in two separate posts. The BJP's state vice-president Usham Deban Singh and general secretary P Premananda Meetei filed a complaint against Wangkhem and Leichombam, after which the police picked them up from their residences in Imphal. They were granted bail on Monday, but the government subsequently invoked the NSA to re-arrest them.
Farhan Akhtar then shared a tweet on his social media post that was critical of the Government. This is what he had to say- "First you couldn't criticise the government. Then you couldn't criticise any government policy. Then you couldn't criticise their lack of any policy to tackle Covid. Now you can't criticise cow dung. Next..??"

Akhtar has been constantly doing his bit by donating to the Covid-19 warriors. Not only that, the actor, through the NGOs has also made sure to reach out with help as much as he can, by providing necessary facilities and kits to the much-needed corona-struck patients. On May 8, Farhan Akhtar, the 47-year-old actor, shared that he has taken a step forward to beat the deadly virus by getting vaccinated.
Farhan, once again, was trolled mercilessly by the social media followers for getting vaccinated 'early.' Not only that, the troller stated him as a 'VIP Brat,' who used his 'status' to get vaccinated early.
Keeping up with the current situation, Farhan did not stay mum but replied with dignity. He also mentioned that the drive he selected to get vaccinated was the one for 45+ candidates.
