Bobby Deol
In the 1990s, Bobby Deol gained immense popularity in Bollywood, especially after the success of movies like 'Gupt' and 'Soldier,' positioning him as the next superstar of his generation. 'Gupt' played a pivotal role in shaping Bobby's career, with its music contributing significantly to the film's success.
Co-starring Manisha Koirala and Kajol, the 1997 film emerged as one of the biggest hits of its time. Bobby once shared a humorous incident from the film's making during an interview with Filmfare, where he jokingly complained about Manisha Koirala's "bad breath" while filming a romantic song.
Bobby Deol complained about Manisha Koirala's 'bad breath'
Talking to Filmfare in 2001, Bobby Deol said, "I got along fine with her, though we didn't become friends. While shooting for the song âBechaniyaan' in Gupt, she had to bring her face close to mine and then bite my chin for the shot. As she brought her face close to mine, I got a blast of had breath. She'd eaten chana chaat full of raw onions just before the scene. It's a wonder how I even managed to do the scene. Because romance was the last thing on my mind then."

To retaliate, Bobby devised a scheme. He admitted to "tricking a newcomer" into consuming onions right before a scene with Manisha, ensuring she also experienced his simulated bad breath. He shared, "I wanted to get back at her. The fight master and I conned a newcomer, who was playing her brother, to eat onions. We told him that they were good for concentration and that they'd help him to emote better. He had to do a scene with Manisha. So we asked him to breathe heavily when he got close to her. The camera rolled and we waited with bated breath," he shared. Bobby waited for a while to get a laugh but Manisha never reacted. "She never reacted. Our joke fell flat,"
Bobby had mentioned before that he danced despite having a broken leg while shooting this song. In a previous interview with Hindustan Times, he revealed that he fractured his leg during the filming, leading the choreographers, Chinni and Rekha Prakash, to create hand movements for him since he couldn't move his body. These hand movements later gained popularity as "Bobby Deol's style."
