A video has been creating a lot of buzz since yesterday. On Sunday, a morphed video of Rashmika Mandanna went viral. The unverified video shows a woman with Rashmika's face getting into a lift while wearing a fitted outfit. The video instantly went viral, and later, a journalist came forward and confirmed that the video was fake.
"There is an urgent need for a legal and regulatory framework to deal with deepfake in India. You might have seen this viral video of actress Rashmika Mandanna on Instagram. But wait, this is a deepfake video of Zara Patel," he wrote on X.
"From a deepfake POV, the viral video is perfect enough for ordinary social media users to fall for it. But if you watch the video carefully, you can see at (0:01) that when Rashmika (deepfake) was entering the lift, suddenly her face changes from the other girl to Rashmika," he added.

Later, while resharing the video Amitabh Bachchan showed his support to his Goodbye co-star. Big B wrote, "Yes this is a strong case for legal"
Now, the actress herself has reacted to the clip and shared a statement. She wrote, "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused. Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well-wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can't imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft."
Naga Chaitanya took to X and said, "It's truly disheartening to see how technology is being misused and the thought of what this can progress to in the future is even scarier. Action has to be taken and some kind of law has to be enforced to protect people who have and will be a victim to this. Strength to you (sic)."
On the work front, Rashmika will next be seen in Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal. The movie even features Bobby Deol and Tripti Dimri in pivotal roles. All of the reveals from Animal so far have floored audiences and garnered mixed reactions.
Recently, the makers of Animal took to social media to drop a poster featuring Rashmika Mandanna and Ranbir Kapoor celebrating Karwa Chauth.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, âAnimal' will hit theatres on December 1 in five languages -- Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. The filmmaker, who is known for the films 'Arjun Reddy' and its Hindi remake 'Kabir Singh', has claimed that 'Animal' is going to be an extremely violent film and seems like he was not making claims in the air. The teaser of Animal gave us a glimpse into the relationship shared between a father and son set in the underworld, essayed by Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.
