"#FTII wake up government of India and act For a government that's impervious to FTII protest a warning from 1968 France," Mehra tweeted along with a link to a story which drew comparison of FTII stir with

an 1968 agitation of Paris over abrupt removal of the director of the Cinémathèque Française.

Over 250 students are on strike to protest the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as its chairman for over 100 days as the issue reached an impasse.

Many stars like Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor have come out to support the students, and now the "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" director has also urged government to take control of the situation.

However, a ray of hope has appeared now as the students are ready to have talks with the "government, but with no preconditions".
