Bollywood actor and producer Sujoy Mukerji today said his brother Monjo Mukerji and he were inspired by his late actor-father Joy Mukherjee in making 'Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara', which like his father's films, is strongly rooted in melodious and good music.
"My late father's films had melodious and beautiful songs and music, and of course when I and my brother sat down to make 'Hai Apna Dil Toh Aawara', we were inspired by his songs and music, and hence we made this film, which is strongly rooted in melodious and good music and songs," he told reporters here.
Sujoy, who is in the city along with his actors for promoting his debut film "Hai Apna Dil Toh Aawar", which he said it has some good music with songs like Meharam Mere by Mohit Chauhan and 'Chhu Liya' by Papon, have been well appreciated by people.
"The songs in the film are not items numbers or forcibly stuffed into the film, but complement the requirement of the storyline," Sujoy said.
"There are no item songs. All songs in the film compliment the storyline of the film," he added.
Replying to a query, Sujoy said his favorite number was a Sufi song "Naino Mein", which has not been released as yet.
"People will get to see the song while watching the film. It is my favorite, and I am sure it will be a major hit," he said.
Asked how was it working with a debut director like Monjoy Mukherjee, actor Sahil Anand said "he is a very focused director and had done his homework of making this film from beginning to end."
Actress Divya Chouksey said Monjoy was never friendly to her as she got lot of scoldings from him.
"He (Monjoy) was not a friend of mine on the sets because he scolded me before each scene," she said.
Divya's co-star Herry Tangiri said he had a different thought about Monjoy as a director, but he soon realised he had a adequate knowledge of filmmaking because he came from the house Joy Mukherjee who himself had directed a few movies, besides being an accomplished actor.
"I had a little different idea about working with a debut director, but after a couple of meetings, I realised he already had knowledge of filmmaking as he hails from Joy Mukherjee's House, who himself was a great actor and a director," Herry said.
"It was a great experience working with him. I learnt a lot from him and he is a kind of guy who doesn't put pressure on you. It was comfortable working with him," he added.
The film also features Vikram Kochhar, Niyati Joshi, Jayaka Yagnik, Nilesh Lalwani and Sareh Far.
The film is produced by Monjoy Mukerji Productions in association with Anikaa Films, releases on August 5.
