Salman Khan has lent star power to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s campaign to make the city free of open defecation.
Yesterday, the star visited Madras Pada slum near Goregaon's Film City that houses 3,000 people, to spread awareness about hygiene and sanitation. He was joined by BMC chief Ajoy Mehta, Rahul Kanal's I love Mumbai foundation, Shekhar Tolani of Sahib Reality and Roshan Sachdeo of Sach Ishaan.

They handed over 20 public utility toilets at Madras Pada, Aarey Milk Colony, to combat open defecation. Now, a 1,500-litre storage tank and a bore well renovated with a new compressor have been installed.
"Eliminating open defecation is the main aim of improving access to sanitation in the city and is a proposed indicator for sustainable development goals," said Mehta.
