The chocolate boy of Bollywood really knows his desserts, and he loves donning the apron at home. Ruslaan Mumtaz , who is a self taught cook, talks to CS about his fondness for food.
What's cooking
I have been a foodie since I can remember and have always loved food. My mother is my biggest critic and vice versa. We've had endless arguments about food and have also given each other many valuable tips. When I started acting, I realised how difficult it was to juggle work and home, so I decided to help my mother in the kitchen. That's when I stared cooking with my parents. I have never learnt cooking professionally, but I do end up downloading a lot of my recipes from the Internet.u00a0u00a0
My menu
I love dishing up this special Kheema Masala, which I devour too. I actually like cooking for other people more than for myself, and my mom tops that list because I want to prove to her how much I know about food. For my vegetarian friends, I dish up a particular Baingan ka Bharta. For my non-vegetarian friends, I prepare Chilli Chicken. The latter has mouths watering almost always. Three essentials in my kitchen have to be garlic, onion and green chilies. However, when I eat out, my favourite on the menu is usually a good steak.
The chef in action
Cooking for me is cathartic, sometimes I just unwind when I'm in the kitchen. I enjoy cooking and call my friends home when I'm making something special. So cooking is my time off. I would love to do a cookery show, because then it would be a balance of both performing and cooking.
