Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's relationship seems to be fizzling out. B-Town's youngest prem kahani seems to have reached a dead end.
Says a source, "All attempts of a patch-up between the couple by well-wishers have failed. Constant fighting has taken a toll on their relationship. Although they are now on talking terms, the spark is gone. It looks like the end of the road."
Telltale signs
As reported ('Ranbir Ke Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani'; Hitlist, October 20), trouble had been brewing between the lovers. The telltale signs came in public glare when both came for Karan Johar's fashion show separately during the recent Couture Week. The same night they were at designer Shabina Khan's birthday bash where their jhagda was out in the open, much to the surprise of the other B-Town guests present.
Adds the source, "Ranbir is feeling stifled by Deepika's presence. She hovered around him constantly. His girlfriend's constant surveillance became a source of stress which ultimately led to a breakdown in the relationship."
Buzz is also that the Om Shanti Om actress was extremely unhappy that Ranbir was not as committed to her as she was to him. As the source puts it, "She began dating him while shooting in Australia for Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2007. At the time, both were on par professionally. But now Ranbir's career has soared, while Deepika is steady where she was. With his career looking up, there is a lot of pressure on Ranbir is keep the focus on his work for now, and he hasn't been able to give his girl the time she craves."
Though Deepika has been with Ranbir for over two years, his mom Neetu Singh never really warmed to her. According to B-Town buzz, the Kapoor maa was not too keen on Deepika as her son's girl. And mom's approval is very important to the actor. All this has finally taken its toll on the jodi's rishta.
The Other Side
Both the stars remained unavailable for comment. But a source close to the couple says, "Yes, they are going through tough times, but hopefully they will emerge out of it smiling. There are still feelings there. And they both want to make it work."
