Kay Kay, who has been part of various critically acclaimed films like "Black Friday", "Haider" and "Life in a Metro", will be next seen in "San Pachattar 75".

The period-thriller revolves around the era of Emergency in the country.

When asked how did he prepare for his role, Kay Kay told reporters here, "It is a subjective matter. Every actor has his way, which can't be explained. I have never done any homework even when I was a child!"

"The external preparation is easy. Grow your hair long, wear bell bottoms. When it comes to the internal preparation, I present the human and not the role. I don't portray roles, I portray a person," he added.

"San Pachattar' 75" revolves around a deal of the first mobile phone (prototype) being brought in India with Emergency in the background.

The Emergency was in effect from 25 June, 1975 until its withdrawal on 21 March, 1977. The actor is not apprehensive about the film getting divided reactions due to its backdrop.

"It doesn't matter to me. Yes, if they have valid points then we are not like 'I am right, you are wrong'. But the points should be such which do not insult the mind."

Director Navneet Behal said the film does not sensationalise the issue of emergency and merely used it as a backdrop.

"There is no effort to sensationalise the issue. Emergency happened and nobody can change that. But we have used the backdrop and made a thriller," Behal said.

Film's producer Producer Kabir Lovee said, "We have not named anyone, its all in the subtext. I don't think there should be any problem."

Kay Kay, 49, also shared his memory of emergency.

"As a kid you can sense fear, love happiness very easily. I did sense an element of fear in the atmosphere."

The film, which also stars Kirti Kulhari, is scheduled to release on July 1.
