For several decades, the Kapoors have been celebrating the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi at the iconic R.K Studios, helmed by the late veteran actor-producer Raj Kapoor in 1948. The studio, which was gutted in fire last year, has been put up on sale. However, despite the decision of selling the sprawling landmark studio, the Kapoors have continued with their year-long tradition, and have welcomed the diety on the pious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Confirming the same, Randhir Kapoor told Pinkvilla that the celebrations will remain the same this year. "We shall be celebrating Ganpati as usual like we do every year. Rk. [sic]," said Randhir Kapoor.
The RK Studios fire erupted on September 16 last year on the set of the television show, Super Dancer 2. Later, it was reported that the family has collectively decided to sell the studio, which was built 70 years ago by veteran actor Raj Kapoor. The studio, spread in the two-acre was the headquarters of the film production company RK Films. It was founded and named after the Great Showman, Raj Kapoor, in 1948.
Many hit films including Barsaat, Awaara, Jagte Raho, Shree 420, Sangam, Bobby and Prem Rog were shot at the studio.
