There has been much speculation about Karan Johar and Kajol's friendship hitting a rough patch, thanks to the actress' husband Ajay Devgn. The actress didn't appreciate her ex-BBF zeroing in on the same release date for his upcoming film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, since Devgn's ambitious directorial venture, Shivaay is also releasing on October 28.

Insiders claim Kajol didn't wish KJo on his 44th birthday last May since they are no longer friends. The filmmaker is upset about the falling apart, but won't make it obvious. At a media interaction on Tuesday, when he was asked about the impending box office contest, he chose not to comment.
Says a source, "Before the event began, Karan had made it clear that he would give interviews only with Manish Paul [host of a dance reality show that he judges] by his side. He was probably expecting questions about the release date clash, and when the question was posed to him, he simply nodded. When there is no answer, there is no controversy."
It was Devgn, who first picked Diwali for his film's release, and when Karan chose the same date for his multi-starrer, Kajol decided to side with hubby dearest. She marked her social media comeback by sharing the poster of Shivaay. While Devgn is juggling acting and directing, the actress has decided to take up marketing responsibilities.
Earlier, Devgn had spoken about the clash and said, "It's a close-knit industry and whatever issues we have with each other we should sort amongst ourselves and not harm each other's work. But everybody wants a great release date, so they have the right to choose any date for their film. If I take it personally, it will upset me, but if I look at it from a business point of view, then it's fair enough."
SRK made KJo cry
Karan revealed that he teared up when his superstar-buddy Shah Rukh Khan praised the music of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the shooting of which wrapped up yesterday. "Shah Rukh's opinion matters to me the most. I was moved to tears when he said that [the songs are amazing]."
