If you're familiar with QT's oeuvre, you'll readily and unabashedly woo-hoo and clap without restraint at all the right places while watching Basterds.

So maybe the squad started by part-Apache Sgt Aldo Raine (Pitt) did exist. Or maybe it didn't. Who knows?

The point made here is that peace was restored by killing off the Nazi fuhrer and the SS.

You're in unfamiliarly familiar turf. While many flicks have been made on the Nazis and their excesses, sharp direction, a quirky story crackling dialogue, attention to finer details, cocky performances and that unmistakable QT flair keeps IB engaging. Chrisoph, it needs to be said, is an absolute scene-stealer.

While Tarantino may look like he's pulling out all the stops and going for overkill, it's still a quirky yet fluently entertaining film. Don't miss it.
