An insistent Sujoy Ghosh had to push a reluctant Vishal Dadlani to croon You May Be in Aladin. The promos of the love ballad featuring Ritesh Deshmukh and newbie Jacqueline Fernandes have gone on airu00a0-- and Sujoy is finally heaving a sigh of relief.

u00a0"I had to fight, abuse and push Vishal to sing You May Be," he says. "Shekhar was a sweetheart though and he didn't require much convincing. But for some strange reasons Vishal wouldn't agree," informs Sujoy.

Getting here was the hard part: Jacqueline Fernandes and Riteish Deshmukh in the You May Be track in Aladin

The right voice?
As a result, the director and the music composers had to audition for months to find the right singer for You May Be. Vishal felt his voice did not match the romantic number even though the rest of the film's crew thought he did.

"Finally the kind of emotion that Vishal brought in the song would not have been replicated by any other singer. After the recording, he had to agree that his voice suited the track," recollects Sujoy.

Cracking it
He adds, "I remember that Vishal, Shekhar, Siddharth (Anand) and me were having dinner and trying to find references from old songs for the kind of settingu00a0 in You May Be. Numbers like Ae Kaash Ke Hum, Dilbar Mere and Bhavre Ki Gunjan popped up in our mind.

We wanted to have something as beautiful as these tracks in terms of mood. We just kept in mind the basic rhythm that was common across these songs and used it as the reference point. Once that was done, Vishal and Shekhar cracked it."
