Bhumi Pednekar and Kriti Sanon
In the midst of reports of Kriti Sanon shuffling in and out of debutant director Tushar Hiranandani's upcoming sports drama Womaniya, comes news that Bhumi Pednekar has already taken her place. mid-day hears that Pednekar will replace Sanon to pair up with Taapsee Pannu in the film, based on octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi.
A source reveals that Sanon's chock-a-block diary is to blame for the film slipping out of her hands. "Kriti has her kitty full with Housefull 4, Panipat and Luka Chuppi. She was unable to shoot on the dates that the makers required. Hence, they are in talks with Bhumi."
Prep for the venture will commence after Pednekar signs on the dotted line. "[Taapsee and Bhumi] need to work on their physique to look like octogenarians. The film was initially expected to roll in August, but has been pushed to October, giving them sufficient time to attain the physicality," says the source, adding that the final cast will be announced later this month.
We texted producers Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, both of whom didn't respond till the time of going to press. Pednekar's spokesperson said, "Bhumi is reading several scripts, and her next set of movies will be announced soon."
