Bhumi Pednekar
It's a validation that I have been part of cinema that has left a lasting impression on the minds of the audience, not just in India, but the world over," says Bhumi Pednekar of the invitation to represent India at the Berlin International Film Festival.'
A source tells mid-day that the actor will highlight the evolution of Hindi cinema at the 10-day event that starts in Germany this week. "Bhumi will discuss the future of female actors in Indian cinema and the depiction of strong women characters in films."
Since she has only three films - Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017) and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) - to her credit, receiving an invitation from the festival organisers was an "emotional moment" for Pednekar. "To represent India despite being just three films old is an honour. I will talk about the changing face of Indian cinema, making socially relevant films, how content is the star and why the audience relates to characters and films that mirror society."
