Akshay Kumar as Tapan Das in the film Gold
Akshay Kumar is all set to recreate the Golden era of the 40's in Excel Entertainment's upcoming sports drama Gold. The actor who will be portraying a Bengali character for the first time, got into the skin of his character perfectly imbibing the nuances of the same. As seen in the teaser and trailer, Akshay Kumar aces the Bengali look with iconic hair-do and a dhoti-jacket attire. The recently released BTS video from the film revealed the making of the character of Tapan Das played by Akshay Kumar.
Talking about his transformation for the character, Akshay Kumar said, "As Tapan Das playing a Bengali, Indian Hockey teams manager, we added a mustache, a Dhoti with a jacket and a differently styled hairdo."
By looking at Akshay in the trailer we can definitely say that the actor has aced his look in the film. The trailer of Gold has been received well by the audience and now everyone is waiting for its release with bated breath. The recently released songs of Gold has resonated will with the listeners. Staying true to the genre of the film, Gold is to release on Independence Day this year. Gold marks to be the first association between Akshay Kumar and Excel Entertainment led by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.
The film also marks the Bollywood debut of actress Mouni Roy opposite Akshay Kumar. Apart from Akshay and Mouni, Gold has an ensemble cast of Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh, Sunny Kaushal and Nikita Dutta. The period film is helmed by Reema Kagti has been shot across the UK and India. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner name Excel Entertainment, the film is written and directed by Reema Kagti and will hit the theatres on 15th August 2018.
