Aishwarya, Alia, Sonam: Who stood out and who didn't at royal gala

We tell you about who stood out and who didn't at the charity dinner

Not to say that she doesn't pull off western wear with elan too, but Aishwarya Rai Bachchcan easily looks best in Indian. She looked gorgeous in this dusty pink sari with minimal make up and accessories. Kudos to her for keeping it understated.

In a raging sea of anarkalis and floor-length lehengas, if there was one person who not only made a smart choice, but also easily stood out, it was Alia Bhatt. Wearing an exaggerated bell dress with beige heels and nude make-up, she kept it simple yet striking. Our vote for the best dressed from the dinner.

Wearing an Elli Saab outfit off the runway is a rather risqué move in itself. While Sonam Kapoor often gets a nod from the fashion police for her edgy endeavours, this one fell below our expectations. Even though the point of the garment was to give off an Indian meets western vibe, it ended up making the overall look a bit cluttered.

There are two ways of looking at Jacqueline Fernandez's outfit. Either you'll find the simplicity of the ensemble charming or you'll find the (done to death) floor-length anarkali look yawn-inducing. She did pull off the look with grace though. That said, a tight bun would've elevated the look by miles.

In a look that we've seen her in way too often, Aditi Rao Hydari took the traditional route yet again and wore Manish Malhotra separates. While the flared pants by themselves look rather stunning, the outfit on the whole did nothing for the actress.
