Lets face it, songs and movies are a match made in heaven

Lets face it, songs and movies are a match made in heaven. But bringing in old songs which were huge hits at one point and giving them a new spin altogether seems to be the flavoir of the season. Baar Baar Dekho's Kala Chashma, the rehashed, new version of mega hit 'Tenu Kala Chashma Jach Da Eh' released to a collective frenzy by fans.

A still from 'Kala Chashma'

We take a look at other older songs that were revived for the benefit of the newer generation:

Disco Deewane - Student of the Year
Nazia Hassan's 1981 hit song still regularly makes it to the radio and has the old-world vintage appeal to it that refuses to get old. A revamped, equally fun version was remade in the film Student of the Year, and yet we don't think anything can top the original version.

Hawa Hawai - Shaitaan
Sridevi's Hawa Hawai from Mr India is iconic for more reasons than one. And yet a groovy, quirky version of the same which was remade in Shaitaan struck a chord with the audiences too.

Khaike Paan banaras waala - Don
Raucous and fun, one would think its hard to top what Amitabh Bachchan did with Don, and yet SRK did a pretty good job at bringing his old fun appeal to the much-loved song.

Kar Gayi Chull - Kapoor and Sons
This modified version of this song earned itself 75 million views and quickly became the song of year. Predictably so, given the groovy beats and the fun element attached to it.

Hungama - Queen
There were a number of reasons why this newer version of the old classic did well, and predictably so. It has that feel of nostalgia attached to it, its fun and its upbeat. But it also retained a bit of the original and who wouldn't like that?
