Salma and Salim Khan
Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan recently discussed his marriage to Salma Khan in an interview with his son, Arbaaz Khan. He shared that before they officially started dating, he wanted to meet Salma's parents because he felt it was wrong to keep their meetings a secret.
When he finally went to her house, he joked that it felt like all the Maharashtrians in India were there, which made him very nervous.

As per ETimes, he recalled, "Before our courtship, I told Salma I want to meet your parents as hiding and meeting is a wrong thing. So when I went to her house, I felt all the Maharashtrians from India were there (chuckles). I was very nervous about seeing so many people."
Salim Khan explained that at first, Salma's father was concerned about their different religions. However, Salim assured him that this wouldn't be an issue. They eventually got married, but Salma's father didn't visit them for ten years. Salim also discussed his marriage to Helen, noting that Salma was the first to accept her. He mentioned that managing such relationships in real life is challenging.
He continued, "My father-in-law told me that I was a nice guy but religion was the problem. I was 24 at that time. I then told him, âDoctor sahib, meri aur aapki beti ke 1760 problems ho sakte hai, but religion will never be one of them."
Salim Khan married Sushila Charak, who later became known as Salma Khan, in 1964. They had three sons - Salman, Arbaaz, and Sohail Khan - and two daughters, Alvira and Arpita. His love life took a turn when he fell for Helen, a famous actress and dancer, and married her in 1981.
Work front:
On the work front, last month, mid-day reported that Salman Khan's Sikandar will go on floors around June 27 (Salman to serve some stunts, May 24). With three weeks to go, it's time for the leading man to gear up for director AR Murugadoss' action entertainer. Sources tell us that the superstar is set to head to Chennai this week as part of the film's hard prep. On the agenda are extensive fight rehearsals and rigorous training. Over his three-decade-plus career, Khan has been no stranger to action. But we hear the actor-director duo jointly decided to have rehearsals since the film has many action sequences, and more importantly, because they have been imagined in an exaggerated and dramatic style as found in many south movies.
