India Water Foundation
The India Water Foundation is pleased to announce the international conference on âDeciphering Transversality of Water-Energy-Environment Nexus' during the Water Transversality Awards and Conclave supported by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Power of the Government of India, and the South and South-West Asia Office of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). This event is scheduled for December 5th and 6th, 2024, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
This conference will bring together global and national leaders, policymakers, and experts from around 30 countries. As interdependencies deepen, especially in vital sectors like water, energy, and the environment, the urgency for innovative, sustainable, and integrated solutions has never been greater. Together, these experts will explore the increasingly interconnected challenges posed by climate change, disasters, water scarcity, and sustainable energy issues, examining how these critical domains can be integrated into sustainable development strategies for the future. This event serves as a platform to foster dialogue, share best practices, and explore pathways to address the complex challenges at the heart of nexus. Key Themes of the International ConferenceThe Water-Energy-Environment Nexus forms a crucial intersection in the sustainable development agenda. At the conference, a diverse range of topics, each carefully curated and critical to achieving environmental and energy security as well as water resilience, will be addressed. Key themes shall delve into water circularity, industrial water use efficiency, ecosystem restoration, decarbonization and net zero targets, green hydrogen production, disaster risk management, renewable energy, and the water, energy, and health trilemma.
Water Transversality Global Awards
As part of the conference, the India Water Foundation will present the Water Transversality Global Awards. These awards will honor exemplary contributions to the water-energy-environment nexus, celebrating leaders, innovators, and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in areas such as research, policy development, manufacturing, community engagement, and sustainable resource management. For individuals or organizations that have demonstrated outstanding leadership in implementing integrated approaches, the awards will be given in various subcategories of Water, Energy, Environment, Community Participation, Leadership, etc.
Book Release
There will be a book release authored by Dr. Arvind Kumar, President and Founder, India Water Foundation, titled "Dr. Arvind Kumar's Friday Musings." Through this collection he has attempted to highlight contemporary global challenges and concerns, though many of them resonate in India as well. The articles are written with a distinctive style to discuss various social, economic, and environmental concerns that fall under the umbrella of sustainability, transversality, and nexus, which are the pillars for tinging the broader canvas of Sustainable Development Goals. These articles are his reflections on the past couple of years and are inspired by his experiences shared every FRIDAY and are purposefully crafted to engage and inform.
Release of special postal cover
This mammoth event shall be commemorated by the release of a special postal cover by the India Post.
