Sikkim - State And its Agriculture Sector

Within this 3 years of SKM government wherein Lok Nath Sharm MLA Gyalshing- Bermiok subdivision as Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and veterinary Sikkim, State has precisely developed in agriculture horticulture sector.


Under the guidance of Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri PS Golay and dynamic leader lok Nath Sharma, Sikkim state has been flourishing economically in the sector of agriculture, horticulture and also in many other sectors wherein farmers are being benefited through incentives, subsidy, loans and many more as per the report .
During the various programs organised in the year of 2021 by multi purpose cooperative society in collaboration with SHGs , agricultural equipments such as, power tiller, fish tanks and Grinder machines were handed over to various beneficaries under the fallen Constituency by the Minister .The programmes also saw distribution of various cheques through Development Through Credit Schemes provided by Lead Bank to the
progressive farmers of the constituency.
Further, he also informed about aquaphonic farming practices and its benefits, "this pratice will soon be introduced by the State Government", HM loknath Sharma Shared.
In Sikkim more than ten thousand farmers are benifited through the various Central Schemes of agriculture and horticulture.
Under the leadership of HM loknath Sharma various SHGs has also been benifited , as per the report of 2021 a total of 65 SHGs were benifited with financial grant of 1 lakhs each for further value addition of their products.

In the financial year of 2021-22 approx of 25 households of Gyalsing were benefited through SMAM scheme among them 4 SHGs were also benefited.

Hon'ble Minister Shree Lok Nath Sharma along with Directorate of Fisheries, Department of Animal Husbandry Sikkim, on 21st of February 2022 I,e yesterday announced the implementation of Aquaponics and Hydroponics Farming system in Sikkim. He further informed that Sikkim will soon start the easier way of farming with innovative technologies.


SKM Government announced to provide an incentives of various crop in sikkim inorder to encourage and motivate the farmers to increase their production.
Incentives are provided as per the production in kgs below

Rs 100/ - per kg in Cardamom,

Rs 20/ - per kg in Ginger,

Rs 10/ - per kg in Tumeric,

Rs 20/ - per kg in Orange,

Rs 10/ - per kg in Bucket Wheat.



These are the major crops of Sikkim so in order to encourage the farmers and grow the productivity of crops incentives are provided by present Government (SKM) .
More than thousand farmers of West Sikkim falls under the beneficiaries of the scheme as per the tally in different cluster section in the financial year of 2020- 2021.
He also highlights that the wide scope of agriculture can attract young people in agricultural fields which will not only allow them to earn their livelihood but also to become self-employed and self-sufficient.

Till Now HM Loknath Sharma has served the nation and the State in such a good and proper way which makes him a great figure to look for.
